Filming in Brighton

On the 5th of October, myself, Jack Morris, Jack Hargreave, Sam Dempster and Lucy Hyner went to Brighton to begin our filming. We brought a video camera for the main bulk of the filming, a SLR camera for creating depth of field and stop motion effects, and a tripod. We aimed to get shots of Sam and Lucy in a pub, on the beach, on the pier, and possibly in and around the lanes.

The shots within the pub was really successful. The landlady was really generous, and let us have all the space and time we needed as it wasn't too busy as the time. She also offered to feature in the music video, which was perfect as there is a line in the song which reads "We cannot have that behavior in this establishment".

We felt that the shots we filmed on the beach, we slightly too soppy to include in the music video. This is because we had the two actors walking down the beach hand in hand for the later part of the video, however comparing the shots with the style of the video, it didn't fit at all, as the song was a lot more upbeat and fun.

On Brighton pier we got some really effective shots. I believe this was because we caught some really iconic landscapes in the background. This made it easy to relate the footage to the audience. One of the opening shots where Sam is singing on the pier is one of my favourite shots as the way he moves around the frame is so effective in getting his personality across to the audience.
